The L-Club audience rises as one. The ovation is spontaneous. Faces are bright with a different kind of knowing.
It's November 12th, a Saturday night, and 'Nashville In Harmony' has just performed for our group at Won Choi's fabulous "house" on Third Avenue. We are a people who gather around shared liberal philosophies, hence the 'L' word bestowed upon us by a Tennessee journalist, when we first came together in the early 2,000's. We are people of Hope and 'Nashville in Harmony' has just mirrored our Hope.
On this night the spirit of 'Nashville In Harmony' sings our best selves. The truth is this, you can't attend a NiH concert, hear their stories and experience their music without being moved into a better world. Together we rise above the fractures that rip people apart and find ourselves in a place where our stories are the same and our dreams are shared. It's as though we are one, our wounds are healed, and the world is aligned at last. The ovation continues ... Until Don Schlosser pulls the choir back together for an encore.
"This Is Why We Sing" ... their voices declare. YES.
