Nashville in Harmony performed at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center as part of the Regions Free Day of Music celebration on Saturday, October1st. Previous years at this event, NiH could be found singing in the main lobby. This year, however, NiH has been invited to the main stage in the Laura Turner Concert Hall for a prime-time performance at 5:15 PM and is a “must see” event for NiH fans! This will be the chorus’ fourth appearance at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, following last February’s performance of “Broadway Rocks!” in collaboration with the Nashville Symphony. Regions Free Day of Music runs from 10AM until 11PM and is part of an ongoing mission of the Nashville Symphony to make live music from all genres accessible and affordable for Nashville families of all income levels.

Nashville in Harmony performed on Sunday, Sept. 18th at the season finale of Shakespeare in the Park, marking its second appearance at the festival. William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” was this season’s selected play. Held in Centennial Park, NiH provided 30 minutes of live music entertainment before the play from the repertoire of the chorus’ upcoming season concert, “Fruitcake”. Though a light rain fell, neither the chorus nor the enthusiastic crowd (some sporting umbrellas) had their spirits dampened. Shakespeare in the Park is part of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival and runs yearly from mid-August thru mid-September, Thursday thru Sunday nights.
Nashville in Harmony performed at the kickoff of Artober Nashville on Thursday, Sept. 15th, hosted by the Metro Nashville Arts Commission (MNAC) and Now Playing Nashville. In recognition of National Arts and Humanities Month, the formal dinner was held on the Shelby Street pedestrian bridge for a couple hundred people from the Nashville arts community. Though fully planned out by the hosts, NiH made a flash-mob style performance of Mac Davis’ “I Believe in Music” in front of the head table to the delight of Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper. The goal of Artober Nashville is for every person in Nashville to be able to experience the wide range of visual and performing arts, music, crafts and film during the month of October. Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” was this season’s selected play. Held in Centennial Park, NiH provided 30 minutes of live music entertainment before the play from the repertoire of the chorus’ upcoming season concert, “Fruitcake”. This is a culmination of their seventh season of embracing their mission to build community and create social change: to make Nashville in Harmony a "home" for all members, to make Nashville a "home" where everyone is accepted, to sing and work for those in our community who do not have a home, and to build relationships with an increasing variety of individuals and organizations so they feel at "home" with us.
One special feature of the concert will be the formal premier of an original composition, "Is It Me?" with lyrics by formerly homeless poet and songwriter Chuck Clinard, and music composed by the director of Nashville in Harmony, Don Schlosser.
