Wesley was born in Tuscaloosa, AL. He obtained his Bachelor's of Vocal/Choral Music Education from The University of Alabama and moved to Nashville in 2013 after graduation.
While at the Capstone, he was a 3-time finalist in the AMEA Young Composer Competition. His work has been played and sung all across the southeast and the nation. His songs have been sung from 54 Below and the Highline Ballroom in New York City to the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood.
Wesley is also the Director of Music at Eastwood Christian Church. He now lives in East Nashville with his fiance, Tyler, and his retired greyhound, Fuel.
Joe Lee Major Minors Artistic Director
Joseph (Joe) Leeis the Artistic Director of Major Minors and the Associate Artistic Director of Nashville in Harmony. In addition to his work with our organization, he is currently the Resident Conductor of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Huntsville Youth Orchestra, Music Director of the University Orchestra at the University of Alabama Huntsville, Music Director of the Tennessee Valley Music Festival, Music Director of the Festival Internacional de Música Cobano (Costa Rica), the Director of Music Ministries at East End United Methodist Church in Nashville, TN, and the conductor of Nashville’s professional modern music ensemble called “chatterbird.” He has led a diverse group of performers including Grammy award winning artists Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul, the world-famous Canadian Brass, the performers of Cirque de la Symphonie, Act of Congress, Riders in the Sky, Tony Award nominee Jodi Benson, and other Broadway stars including Gary Mauer, Julia Murney, Virginia Woodruff, Burke Moses, and many others.
Mr. Lee served on the conducting staff of the Sewanee Summer Music Festival from 2007-2011, and served as the conductor of the University Orchestra at Sewanee from 2011-2014. In the Spring of 2011, Mr. Lee returned to his alma mater to serve a one- semester appointment at Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Orchestra and Conducting, and currently serves on the faculty of the University of Alabama Huntsville. In addition to his regular conducting activities, Mr. Lee frequently travels the Southeast US and Central America leading clinics, adjudicating band and orchestra festivals, and guest conducting. Originally a bassoonist and cellist, Mr. Lee has a passion for Eastern music and studies the Japanese shakuhachi and the Armenian duduk. He was recently featured as shakuhachi soloist in the Alabama premier of Karl Jenkins' "Requiem." Mr. Lee has participated in music festivals and master classes both at home and abroad. In master class, he has studied with world-renowned instructors including Kenneth Keisler, Otto Werner Mueller, Christoph Eschenbach, Neeme Jarvi, Paavo Jarvi, David Hayes, and Duain Wolfe. Mr. Lee graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from the Claremont School of Theology in Salem, Oregon. Conducting teachers and mentors include maestros Robin Fountain, Emelyn Bingham, Taavo Virkhaus, James Paul, and Carlos Miguel Prieto.
Holling Smith-Borne Principal Accompanist
Holling became principal accompanist for NiH in the fall of 2016, after serving as assistant accompanist for several years. Prior to moving to Nashville in 2006, he was the accompanist for the Indianapolis Women’s Chorus (a GALA chorus) for twelve years. He is currently the pianist at Glendale Baptist Church and accompanies music students at the Blair School of Music. He holds a B.M. in piano performance from Bowling Green State University (OH), and a M.I.L.S. from the University of Michigan with a specialization in music librarianship. He is the Director of the Wilson Music Library at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University.
