An organization for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, and their allies.
Nashville in Harmony (NiH) was founded in 2004 as Tennessee’s first musical arts organization specifically created for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, and their allies.
Since that time, we're proud that several other similar organizations have formed around the state, including our own Major Minors youth chorus.
With a mission of using music to build community and create social change, NiH brings people together within both the LGBTQIA+ community and the community at large.
Nashville in Harmony's mission is to use music to build community and create social change.
We strive to be a musical arts organization for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, and their allies.
Community: We are connected and make each other feel an important part of this community. Our members know we are glad they are here: every member feels seen, heard and loved.
Excellence: We value and commit to performing work that is musically excellent, emotionally engaging, and ultimately, transformative in service of our mission.
Inclusion: We are open to all who support the advancement of rights for LGBTQIA+ people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, or religious belief, and physical ability, welcoming diverse and unique perspectives and celebrating the beauty of multiple experiences.
Nashville in Harmony is proud to bring a unique style and voice to the Nashville arts scene. We strive for musical excellence by selecting challenging choral literature for mixed voices. Additionally, choosing music with lyrics that encourage others to make a difference in the world is equally important. Nashville in Harmony performs a diverse selection of music aligned with its mission, from classical (with a twist) to pop, issue-driven to purely fun, unaccompanied to orchestral, and everything in between.
