Picture

Wesley King
Artistic Director

Wesley was born in Tuscaloosa, AL. He obtained his Bachelor's of Vocal/Choral Music Education from The University of Alabama and moved to Nashville in 2013 after graduation.

While at the Capstone, he was a 3-time finalist in the AMEA Young Composer Competition. His choral and instrumental compositions have been performed all across the nation. His musical theatre songs have been sung from 54 Below and the Highline Ballroom in New York City to the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood. He is a part of the writing duo, King & Heinz, which produced their first musical, TEN YEAR, back in the summer of 2022. That production went on to win the Southern Queer Playwright competition and is set to be produced again at the Richmond Triangle Players in an upcoming season.

In addition to music, Wesley works at the intersection of religious leadership and political activism. He obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary and is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He is also the Chair of the Faith Caucus of the Tennessee Democratic Party, an interfaith group dedicated to social, economic, and environmental justice, and supporting the candidates and platform of candidates within the TNDP. He lives in the Cleveland Park area of East Nashville with his husband, Tyler. Tyler is an architect with Hereford Dooley Architects. They are also joined by their 10 year old retired greyhound, Fuel.
